Deadlift skill with empty bar.
Yesssss my favorite daaaays! Was told to do some warm up sets however we wanted until we felt good and then to have the real sets go off your last 5RM like so: 80%-90%-last 5RM-PR attempt-PR attempt.
My last 5rm deadlift was 195# on 7/23 and my last 1rm was 210# on 7/3.
Today was EPIC.
I warmed up like so
Then started the 5x5
5x215 PR 5rm and 1rm!!!!!!!
5x225 PR 5rm and 1rm!!!!!!!
3x235 pr 1rm!
HOLY HELL BATMAN!!
My goal going in was 215 for 5 and I should have had 235 but wussed out. But damn if I’m not pumped and excited about this!! I haven’t done a WOD with Josh as the coach in a while and I can guarantee you that his motivation helped me do this. He’s just so genuine and really believes in you. He watched me do the 185 set and then asked what my goal was. When I said my last was 5rm 195 and 1rm was 210 and I wanted 215 today he said to go for it then right after 185 and I thought he was nuts! But then I did it! Holy shit!
Today was good. Maybe that handful of candy corn I ate and the regretted was actually a good thing lol.
